PALMco Energy Provides One Year Free Energy to Connecticut Habitat for Humanity Family

Fairfield County, CT—February 21, 2017PALMco Energy, a family-owned and -operated energy supply company, today announced it will be covering the cost of electricity and natural gas for the Pamphile family, new homeowners through Habitat for Humanity Coastal Fairfield County (Habitat CFC), for one year. This past year, PALMco Energy team members volunteered at Habitat CFC construction sites as well as contributed $3,000 to help support for Habitat for Humanity’s mission to improve lives by partnering with low-income families, community volunteers and donors to build decent and affordable homes in stable and welcoming neighborhoods.

“Habitat CFC is doing wonderful work by helping first time homeownership become an affordable choice for hardworking families and we are so proud to continue our partnership with Habitat by providing new homeowners, the Pamphile family, with a year’s worth of free electricity and natural gas supply,” said Robert Palmese, President of PALMco Energy. “Last November our team came out to Connecticut to volunteer on a Habitat build site and we were so moved by the experience we knew we needed to do something more. It was a natural fit for us to donate a year’s supply of energy to a Habitat home. The communities in which we serve mean so much to us and we are excited to give back and support the Pamphile family as they settle into their first home.”

Wesley Pamphile works at a childcare center preparing children for kindergarten, and his wife Hattie works at a large retail store on evenings and weekends. Both parents always coordinate their schedules to make sure someone is always home with their four children ages 6, 11, 12, and 13.  The family of six previously lived in a tight two-bedroom apartment with recurring mold and located in a neighborhood with pervasive crime issues. Fortunately, they were able to move into Hattie’s father’s home but only briefly until he passed away and the house was sold by the bank. It wasn’t until they were able to move into their new Habitat home, in December  that the family was able to end the pattern of housing instability.

“We are absolutely speechless. Words cannot describe how much we truly appreciate your kindness and how much you tremendously helped our family,” said Wesley and Hattie Pamphile. “So we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. One act of kindness can make a world of difference.”

Habitat CFC is a local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International dedicated to building, preserving, and rehabilitating decent affordable housing for hard-working, low-income families. Participating families give 500 hours of sweat equity helping to build their homes and ultimately purchase them below cost with no down payment and an interest-free mortgage. Since its founding in 1985, Habitat CFC has built over 200 homes and helped over 1,000 family members.

This partnership is a part of PALMco Cares, an ongoing effort to give back to the communities in which PALMco serves.
